Should remain good for the learning purpose until 50%-75% of the course. PacketTracer has a place in the start of CCNA. Personally I don't like Packet Tracer, I would suggest you use GNS3. NetAcad can help to become acclimated to Cisco's way of delivering material. May, or may not, be available in your area. It is worthwhile to keep on track with the studies with like minded learners, and has a instructor on-hand. Typically, the go-to book is Todd Lammle's (8th ed)-Īm a fan of Cisco's CCNA Academy (aka, NetAcad and Cisco Learning Network). Guessing the official Cisco book is in hand, but more is wanted. JerryL wrote.looking for something that would be structured in the same format/progression that the CCNA courses would cover it.Sounds like the tact is going at the material for the CCNA test & cert.

I appreciate that the Cisco books I've listed and CBT Nuggets can be pricey, but consider this, if you are truely serious about doing a certification properly (not brain dumping, that is pointless) and progressing in IT, this is an investment, not an overhead. One other video training site is Cybrary, it's free, and I mean free, they have 79 CCNA course videos, they won't win any Oscars for production, but they look complete enough.

There are loads of free resources also, check the Cisco learning network , and a few great other sites , (Check out their cheat sheets), The GNS3 forum. Here are a link to some of CCNA videos, including one called Labs for the real world and one where they use Wireshark to show whats going on so you can get to understand the technology better. The other training video vendors are too clinical for me personally. I also find their trainers very easy to learn from, unlike Pluralsight and other vendors (who are all very, very good, factual and will teach you the same thing), their trainers do make mistakes on video and show you them, you learn more, they go of on tangents, Jeremy especially, but again it makes it more personal.

When you subscribe I find two things, firstly you're paying for it, you will use it! And secondly, you get access to all their other videos and I do end up watching Powershell scripting and Server 2012 videos, their archive is an awesome resource for training, but also for going to for troubleshooting things and ideas of what to look for.

Their customer care after sales is awesome too! Here is one that may be of interest to you: īack to CBT Nuggets, I will admit I do subscribe for them, I don't work for them, but they are fantastic, I mainly do networking and security, I don't really like touching PCs or Servers, but as every good network guy will tell you, the definition of a network engineer is someone who fixes the network, one misconfigured server at a time! If you intend to study networking, you really need to be aware of GNS3, Cisco have release VIRL , but that isn't free and you need a really spec'd up machine and isn't free, if you were doing the Data Centre CCNA I would suggest this is what you need as it does Nexus, GNS3 also can emulate NEXUS but you have to use a VM running Titanium.Īs for books, I nearly always get my Cisco books from InformIt , They offer great discounts and despite coming from the US, I often get the books I order from them quicker then the ones I order from Amazon or some other UK based shop! Personally I don't like Packet Tracer, I would suggest you use GNS3 It's free and an awesome product, excellent forum and there is loads of videos on YouTube with "how to's", also those nice chaps over at CBT Nuggets have 2 courses on GNS3, one for the older version and one for the new version.
